Unleash Potential

Ferris Equine Performance provides equine sports massage and rider performance physical therapy to support optimal movement and health for horses and riders through expert analysis and tailored interventions. As an expert in horse and rider biomechanics, Emily utilizes specialized methods including movement analysis and personalized interventions to optimize performance and health for you and your horse.
About Me.
Emily’s passion for working with horses began in her early teens. Unable to afford formal lessons, she spent her weekends and after-school hours as a working student, trading hard work for riding time and instruction. Her dedication led her to join the dressage team at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she earned a B.S. in Animal Science with a pre-veterinary emphasis and a minor in Equine Science.

During her studies, Emily dove deeply into equine biomechanics, exercise physiology, anatomy, conformation, and gait analysis. She gained hands-on experience evaluating and starting young horses from the ground up, and participated in breeding programs for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.

Emily went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy from UCSF/SFSU and has since worked as a sports and orthopedic physical therapist. Seeking to merge her expertise in human performance with her lifelong love of horses, she became certified in Equine Body Work and founded Ferris Equine in 2025.
Ferris Equine Performance Services provides comprehensive movement analysis and bodywork for horses, using a blend of massage, myofascial decompression (cupping), and therapeutic taping to enhance comfort and performance. For riders, Emily assesses strength, mobility, and symmetry to identify factors affecting balance and effectiveness in the saddle, offering tailored manual therapy, stretching, and exercise programs to elevate both performance and partnership.
